Distribution/Placement

Where do my ads run?

Your ad will appear, based on your geographic specification, on our network of more than 800 premium-branded local media sites including television, newspaper, radio and weather-related sites (Such as Internet Broadcasting Systems, Examiner.com sites, Media News Group, WorldNow channels, Brown Publishing, and many more ) as well as some national brand sites and portals (Accuweather.com, WeatherBug.com). We invest generously in expanding our network of online destinations to get you the best results: Our ads run in premium placements on these sites, typically above the fold and on the home page, and at a frequency cap of twice per day or less per viewer.

Can I see my ad running now somewhere?

This is harder than it would seem. To ensure your success, we frequency cap your ads at two impressions per day per consumer. In addition to that, the high-profile nature of the sites on the Jivox network means that they are getting thousands of visitors per day. Depending on your targeting, the chances of any individual - including you - actually seeing your ad on demand when visiting a site on the Jivox network is fairly remote. But this is a good thing. If it were easy to see your ad running on our network, it would mean that your ads were running untargeted and at wasteful frequency cap, which would make it as expensive - and unproductive - as conventional television advertising. Remember, you are paying for those video views. You want them to go where they will perform. Having said that, if you call your Jivox representative, they can check your campaign placement and make suggestions of sites and locations where you run a chance of seeing your ad. Click here to see sample of how Jivox ads look on local media sites.

How can I show my ad to friends and family?

As soon as you have a live campaign, there are free services that we provide which make it easy to show your ad on demand. The first is our automatic upload to YouTube. Once you've gone through this process, you'll have a link on YouTube that you can send to friends, family and customers. You'll also get an embed tag for your ad. This tag enables you to embed your ad on your existing website, or any other website. Both YouTube and embedment impressions are free of charge and do not impact your Jivox budget.

Can I request my ads to appear on specific sites?

Jivox serves your ads only on its premium network of websites which are geographically and contextually relevant to the target audience you create for your video ad campaign. Our targeting technology makes on-the-fly decisions to place your ad on the site that will produce the best results for you at a given moment. Although we can't guarantee that your ad will run on a specific site at a specific time, we do commit to you that it will run only on the premium sites on our network.

We do not buy inventory on low-end, third-tier sites. Our network is comprised exclusively of quality newspaper, weather, television and radio sites plus some national portals.

If you would like to request a site be added to our network, you may contact us at 1.866.935.4869.

Can I schedule my ads to run at specific times and on days of a week?

At this time, we do not offer ad scheduling. However, you can run your ad campaigns for a specific calendar period (i.e. for a month, one week, or six weeks). We pace your advertising impressions according to the campaign schedule you specify. For maximum effectiveness, we do not limit your ad impressions to specific day parts.

Can I take my ad with me?

With any paid campaign you create, you receive embedment codes that enable you to place your ad on your own or any website. This service is available at no additional charge to you while your ad campaign is active. In addition, we will upload your ad free of charge to local search directories including Google Maps and GetFave, and to video sharing sites like YouTube.

Pricing

How much does it cost? What is the lowest amount I can spend?

The cost of running online video ads on the Jivox network is much more affordable than if you were to contact a web site directly. You can start advertising on Jivox network for as little as $150 (even further discounts with our subscription plans.) Video ad creation is free of charge. A conventionally produced video ad, suitable for publication on the web or on television, can cost between $10,000 and $30,000. The revolutionary Jivox platform makes it possible for you to create effective video ads at no cost.

Your campaign budget will depend on the size of your target area and duration of your campaign. We suggest starting with a $600 campaign and running it for 4-6 weeks in order to ensure meaningful results. At this budget level, you are likely to reach a reasonable audience in your target area. A $600 campaign equates to 30,000 plays to completion of your ad on the Jivox Publisher Network, meaning that about 30,000 people will view your ad.

You can also sign-up for a subscription plan and enjoy savings up to 25%. Please visit our Pricing section to get the details on subscription plans, and pick the plan that's most suitable with your marketing goals and budget.

What's an impression?

Jivox uses the current IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) standard for measuring video ad impressions. This standard defines a video ad impression as either a full play to completion of your video ad, or a play to a click, whichever comes first. In other words, your account is not debited for an impression unless it either played through to the end or until someone clicks. If the viewer closed the page or clicked away from the page before your ad completed, you are not charged for that impression. This is the most beneficial way to count ad impressions from the viewpoint of the advertiser.

What's a click? Am I charged for clicks?

Unlike keyword-based text advertising, Jivox does not charge for clicks on your ad. Our budgets are impression-based, which is consistent with how display and video advertising is purchased throughout the Internet. We provide click statistics to you to help you gauge ad performance. Adding a coupon, optimizing your video ad, adding interactivity features such as "Share-with-a-friend", or "Send via SMS", for example, can help you improve click through rates.

Is frequency capping available?

It is not necessary to frequency cap your campaign on the Jivox network because we have done it for you. We protect your investment by setting a network-wide 2x frequency cap. This means that your ad will not appear more than twice per day to any individual consumer. Studies have shown that ad impressions in excess of 2 to 3 per day are wasted, in that consumers who have not clicked on an ad by the time they've seen it twice are extremely unlikely to click on it.

I thought the service was free? Why am I being asked for credit card information?

There's absolutely no cost associated with creating your video ads with Jivox. A conventionally produced ad for local television can cost $10,000 to $30,000, but you pay nothing for ads created with our revolutionary technology. We charge you only for the advertising itself: running it on the sites in the Jivox Online Publisher Network. Once you've created one or more video ads, you set your ad campaign budget to place it on the Jivox Online Publisher Network. Jivox will automatically match your ads with the audience that is most likely to respond favorably to your campaign. In addition, once you have a live campaign, we provide automatic upload to YouTube and to local search providers such as Google Maps, free of charge.

I don't see a padlock or an https: when you ask for my credit card. Is it secure?

As our website is based on Adobe Flash technology, and not html, the security and encryption happen inside our Flash session. It is secure and backed by a current Thawte certificate. You can view the certificate information by clicking on the Thawte icon on the shopping cart screen. What's more, if you tell us to save the credit card information for future billing, we save it in encrypted format in our database.

If I store my credit card number for future purchases, will you re-bill me automatically?

Not unless you tell us to. Jivox takes your privacy and your consumer rights seriously. We collect your credit card information in a secure session. As our application is Flash, the certificate and encryption happen inside our Flash session. If you tell us to save the credit card information for future billing, we save it in encrypted format in our database. We do not re-bill you or set up an automatic subscription unless you opt-in for such option(s).

Frequency

Can I set daily, weekly or monthly budget limits?

With Jivox, you can set a budget and a timeframe for your campaigns. For example, you can run a Thanksgiving holiday campaign in California with a budget of $1,000 and schedule your ad campaign to run beginning November 15 through 30. Jivox will then automatically arrange the pacing of your campaign based on this duration. Campaigns will pace evenly through this duration, and should not exceed the average daily spend set by dividing the total budget by the number of days in the campaign. In some cases, your campaign may proceed more slowly than the limits that you have set. This is because your targeting has been set too tightly.

My campaign is proceeding more slowly than I would like. Why?

If your geographic targets are set too narrowly, you may end up with a much smaller audience than is effective. If you find that despite having set a reasonable budget and campaign duration, you should consider widening your targets.

Even on the largest advertising networks, it is quite possible to set targeting too tightly to get an effective amount of exposure.

Can I pause or stop my advertising campaign?

Yes, you can stop or pause your one or more of your video ad campaigns anytime. Please contact one of our customer service managers at 1.866.945.4869 with your request.

Am I better off with a local (regional) or a national ad campaign?

It depends on your business. If your product is attractive to a national audience, then by all means, set a national campaign. If you have a service business focused on a limited geographic area, use our map-based targeting capability to reach only your local customers. Jivox ensures that your ads are served to prospects you want to reach within the geographic areas that you define. You can target as narrowly as cities or as widely as a whole nation.

National advertisers can reach over 80 Million Internet users, thanks to the extensive Jivox Ad Network.

And, unlike traditional TV and web advertising, pay only for those ads that are viewed by your prospect on local and relevant sites. So, Jivox puts your advertising dollars to work for you.

How do we pace ads?

Jivox sets your ad campaign to pace evenly from a budgetary perspective, at a rate of the total budget divided by the number of days in the campaign. In some cases, you may see that you have received impressions in excess of this amount, but your budget will not be consumed faster than what you have set. We send these gratis impressions as a customer goodwill benefit and to ensure that our entire ad network operates efficiently. Our patented ad serving algorithm is tuned to provide you with the optimal results, consistent with your geo-targeting, so that your ad appears on the sites that are more likely to get you a click.

Performance

How do I know my ad is reaching my target audience?

Your video ads gets distributed on the Jivox Online Publisher Network of more than 800 premium-branded local television, newspaper, radio and weather-related sites as well as some national brand sites and portals. This premium network uses advanced targeting technologies to reach the geographic area that you specified. In addition, we sometimes deliver gratis impressions as a gesture of goodwill towards our customers and to ensure that our overall network remains balanced.

How does video ad click-thru Rates compare to banner ads and search engine marketing?

Our click through rates (CTRs) ranges between 0.15% and 0.45%, which is about 10 times the CTRs of conventional display (banner) ads. Video ads also deliver a much more vivid impression of your business that has much higher impact than a text ad. Video ads can communicate ambiance, which is vital with resorts, restaurants, retail stores, real estate, and health and wellness services. Businesses such as law firms, accountants, realtors and other professional services can communicate an image of integrity that is almost impossible to transmit in a text ad. Trade services also benefit from video's unmatched ability to show your business as professional and well-established. Video advertising has a greater impact, reaches and engages with a different audience than keyword-based text advertising. We recommend that you embrace the strengths of all these various advertising channels and that you add video to a holistic marketing plan that might include text-based ads and print advertising.

How can I track results?

One of the many benefits of online advertising is the ability to get instant feedback on the performance of a campaign and make adjustments as needed. Jivox reports and dashboards provide you with an easy-to-understand and detailed view of ad performance across multiple channels of distribution in real-time so you can determine the best course of action to improve upon your campaign ROI. These metrics include:

  • Performance Summary - Video Ad Views, clicks, coupon downloads, actions, engagement score
  • Performance Comparison - Compares results of multiple video marketing campaigns
  • Trends - Performance of your video marketing campaigns over time

This information allows you to test and refine a variety of creative approaches and messages to increase effectiveness and, therefore, return on investment.

There are several other ways to check the performance of your campaigns as well. We also recommend that you track your web logs. A good method is to note the average number of unique visitors per day that you are receiving prior to the start of your Jivox campaign, and then review this figure as the campaign progresses. Each click noted in the Jivox reports represents a visit to your website generated by your Jivox ad campaign. You should see a corresponding increase in your weblog's count of unique visitors per day. In some cases, unique visitors per day may increase beyond the number of clicks shown in the Jivox reports. This is a result of several indirect benefits of Jivox advertising, including 'type-in' traffic of people who saw your ad on the Jivox network and later typed your company name into a search engine, or directly typed the name of your website as shown in your ad. In addition, if you are using web analytics tools like Google Analytics to track website performance, you will see entries tracing visitors to the Jivox ad.

Another way to check performance is to add a coupon or add rich interactivity features such as "Share-with-a-friend", or "Send via SMS", for example, to your video ad campaign. When users download and print these coupons, and then bring them into your business establishment, you have the reassurance that your campaign is performing for you. Our studies have shown that such coupons also increase click through rates, thereby raising the number of consumers visiting your company website.

How can I improve results?

First, set a baseline. Check your weblogs to find out your current unique visitors per day. Next, create your best effort at a baseline ad.

An effective ad typically contains the following elements:

  • Eye-catching, memorable background video or images
  • A simple message delivered in 5 words or less
  • A clear call to action at the end (click here to save on airfares!)
  • Large type and easy-to-read text
  • A clear, memorable logo for your business if available

Set a starting budget of at least $300 and two weeks, and wait until you've had at least 10,000 impressions before you start drawing major conclusions about ad performance. You should see a click through rate of at least 0.2%. At about the 10,000 impression point, it's a good idea to try a slight variation of your ad. Let it run for a couple of days and see if your click through rate has gone up or down. If it goes up, keep refining your ad in that general direction. If it declines, revert to the original ad design. Another way to do this is to create two campaigns at the same time, and give each one, say, $300 in budget. Compare the results daily, and make changes based on no fewer than 5000 impressions in activity. This simple method of testing is used by even the largest brand advertisers on multi-million dollar campaigns.

Is there a guarantee of performance?

Jivox guarantees you will receive the number of impressions you pay for. While we cannot guarantee specific click-thru performance due to the nature of variations of online advertising, Online Video Advertising has proven to perform significantly better than traditional banner advertising. Online Video advertising also provides a greater value as opposed to search engine advertising with the rich visual and interactive elements that enables a greater customer engagement experience and building awareness of your company's identity and image, as opposed to text based ads. Moreover, Jivox places your video ads on locally and contextually relevant sites that your potential customers visit.

Jivox customer success managers are highly trained advisors who are dedicated to your campaign success. We will proactively analyze your campaign and stand ready to provide you with optimization and creative suggestions to maximize your investment.

Can I run A/B or multivariate tests with Jivox?

Yes. Since there's no cost for creating ads with Jivox, you can create different ad variations (literally, unlimited number of ads at no charge) to test different messages, promotions, offers, interactivity features and more. Jivox reports and dashboards provide you with an easy-to-understand and detailed view of ad performance across multiple channels of distribution in real-time so you can determine the best course of action to improve upon your campaign ROI.

What is Video Engagement Score?

The Video Engagement Score is a way for an advertiser to gauge their ad's overall performance relative to the other video ads running on the Jivox Online Publisher network. It is important to note that this score is independent of any specific goals of a campaign, especially general awareness which is more dependent upon frequency of views.

How does the Video Engagement Score work?

It assigns a value based on the total number of interactions with a specific video compared to all other video ads running on the Jivox Online Publisher Network.

How can I improve my Video Engagement Score?

Most important to a positive Video Engagement Score is to develop a creative video that draws the attention of viewers with a strong call to action that includes a downloadable coupon and email inquiry.

What interactions contribute to the Video Engagement Score?

The primary interactions contributing to the Video Engagement Score are Click-throughs, Coupon Downloads and Email Inquiries. Secondary contributors are Email Sharing, Web Site Hosting and Request Information via SMS. It is important to note that if an advertiser chooses not to include a coupon or email inquiry it has a significant negative effect on the Video Engagement Score.

How is the Video Engagement Score Calculated?

The Engagement Score is calculated as the total viewer interactions weighted by response priority and divided by the total views and normalized to fit within a range of 0-100 and adjusted so that the median of Engagement Scores across all active Jivox campaigns with more than 15000 views has a score of 50.
