Google used Interactive Online Video ads, powered by the Jivox technology, to promote its new version of its Google Chrome browser and allow Internet users to download The Chrome browser to their PCs directly through their video ad. Online Video Ads engage potential customers letting them interact with the ad, drive direct response (clicks, visits, downloads and more), allow for social interactions and build brand awareness.

Campaign

The Ad Google was looking for efficient and effective ways to reach online audiences and generate interest for their new Chrome web browser and drive downloads. Through distribution of its fifteen second (:15) online video ads, Google achieved spectacular results, far beyond the typical industry averages, thanks to the power of online video ads.

Google used three different video ads highlighting their top 3 values (Speed, Simplicity and Security) for Chrome browser and added strong call to actions like a link to their YouTube video channel and interactive widgets to drive direct response. Their online video ads were distributed across the Jivox Video Ad Network of websites ensuring the video ads were delivered to just the right audience online.

Google ran its video ad campaign from March through April 2010 and Jivox delivered a staggering 7.8 million video views and maintained a healthy interaction CTR.

Results

The Results Google used interactive online video advertising to reach and engage with consumers online resulting in a big adoption of its Chrome browser by Internet users. The video ad campaign performed nearly three times better than typical online display ads (static banner ads). Typical display ads only offer clicks that navigate the online viewers away from the page and disrupt the web experience. Jivox interactive features propelled the specific user engagement with the brand. The results were phenomenal:

  • Drove 39,308 clicks to achieve an interaction CTR of 0.54%.
  • 3,817 users downloaded the Chrome browser
  • 3,140 viewed the “View 8-tabs video” on YouTube
  • 2,091 viewed the “view search video” on YouTube
  • 2,857 viewed the “view map zoom video” on YouTube
